COMMUNITIES AND RENEWABLE ENERGY

CER Renewable energy and comunities

The Communities and Renewable Energies (CER) project is implemented by the Climate Initiative of Mexico (ICM) in partnership with the Center for Civic Collaboration (CCC) and the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO Mexico), with the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This project aims to generate tools and promote conditions that contribute to the development of participatory, inclusive and transparent renewable energy projects in Mexico, through a gender and human rights perspective, to prevent the emergence of social conflicts, increase benefits, and mitigate negative impacts.

This project aims to expand the country's opportunities to generate renewable energy, reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels, and to move forward in reducing the risks and negative social impacts of renewable energy projects, contributing to peacebuilding and effective governance of the territory.
